Same edge, different ride
On a European wheel every bet costs the same 2.70% — what changes is volatility. The Odd bet’s standard deviation is 1.00 per $1: the smoothest ride on the felt — small swings, near-coin-flip rhythm. At $10 a spin over 100 spins you should expect to pay about $27 in edge, with session swings of roughly ±$100 one standard deviation around it.
Odd’s small asymmetry of feel
Odd covers the eighteen odd values 1–35 — and pays exactly like even, red or high. Yet players swear odd “hits in clumps”: clustering illusion at work — with p=48.65%, runs of 4+ odd results appear in 96% of 100-spin sessions, exactly as often as on every other even-money face. The clumps are real; the meaning isn’t.
